The Teaching of the Arts
Performing Arts Spring Term One 2019
In Music we are currently giving taster music lessons in a variety of Musical instruments including the Piano. Five children from each of the KS2 classes are selected to spend ten minutes learning to play a particular instrument. Over time all the children will have the opportunity to learn and develop their ever increasing knowledge of Music.
On Jan 28thLPPA choir performed at The O2 alongside 8000 children from all over the country. It was an amazing, inspirational experience for all who attended. The children worked hard in the few months prior by learning many songs both familiar and unfamiliar along with dance moves too. They performed alongside Tony Hadley, Beau Dermott (who had the golden buzzer in Britain’s Got Talent) and Sharlene Hector along with the amazing Urban Strides. They even received a motivational message from the one and only Hugh Jackman.
At LPPA our children have short courses in Art and Performing Arts.
During the fisrt half of the Spring term the children in the Reception Class looked at famous artists from around the world.
Firstly they looked at the Russian Artist Wassily Kandinsky and recreated his famous concentric circle painting. Next they looked at the Swiss artist Paul Klee along with a book inspired by some of his artwork. The children then created their own pieces of artwork based on the style of the artist.
Year 1 learnt words and actions to the traditional tale ‘The Three Billy Goats Gruff’ and performed ‘True Colours’ from the film ‘Trolls’ using Makaton sign language as well as their beautiful voices.
Year 2 explored becoming a character from the Nursery rhyme ‘Old King Cole’.
