Coastal School

Situated just a stone’s throw from the Thames Estuary, we believe our children have a unique opportunity — and an entitlement — to learn about and care for their local coastline.

Learning beyond the classroom opens up a world of possibilities. Through our Coastal School experiences, children are encouraged to explore, ask questions, discover new interests and begin to think about how they might make a difference in the future. It is wonderful to hear children say things like, “I’d like to be a marine biologist,” or “I’d love to help clean our beaches.”

Being a Coastal School encourages our children to develop a deep appreciation for the natural world and a sense of responsibility for the place they call home. They learn about local wildlife, habitats and ecosystems while developing important life skills such as confidence, perseverance, teamwork, resilience and kindness.

Our coastal learning also helps children understand the importance of protecting and preserving our local environment for future generations.

As the only accredited Coastal School on Canvey Island and in the surrounding area, this is something that makes our school truly special and unique. Our location provides an incredible outdoor classroom right on our doorstep, allowing our children to learn, explore and grow through meaningful experiences with the coast.
