Curriculum
Our curriculum at Lubbins Park Primary Academy will prepare our pupils for life in the twenty-first century by creating opportunities for learning that they are enthused, motivated by and engaged in.
At Lubbins Park Primary Academy, we offer a knowledge-rich, memorable and vibrant curriculum, which is ambitious for all learners. Our curriculum aims to encourage independence, curiosity and creativity, produce collaborators, innovators, leaders and above all our curriculum helps our pupils understand what it means to be a good, well-rounded, kind citizen in the modern world. We adapt our curriculum to suit the needs of all of our pupils, ensuring they are suitably challenged and supported.
Our curriculum encompasses not only the formal requirements of the National Curriculum, but goes beyond the experiences of the classroom, through Personal Passport activities, to ensure that our pupils are exposed to the richest and most varied opportunities that we can provide and that challenge their pre-conceived ideas.
For English, we use The Literacy Tree, as a platform. Our English curriculum is rich in high-quality texts that challenge our learners and provide an engaging hook for both reading and writing opportunities. At Lubbins Park, we truly believe that reading really is the key to success.
For Phonics, Read Write Inc. is our chosen scheme. Assessments take place throughout the term, to ensure children are suitably challenged and supported.
For Maths, we use White Rose to structure our lessons. We have daily arithmetic lessons, which provide firm foundations for children's ability to use the 4 operations and number facts fluently across the curriculum.
Our pupils benefit from a high-quality, comprehensive curriculum that provides full National curriculum coverage and progression of skills and knowledge across twelve foundation subjects.
Our children have a clear understanding of what is expected of them during lessons. We are transparent with our expectations of the star qualities of ‘Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe’. Through this, we provide learning experiences which promote confident, self-motivated pupils, eager for lifelong learning.
